Today i took the SAT for the first time.

I was going strong the first 3-4 sections, but by 8, and 9 i was so dreadfully exhausted that i almost completely stopped trying.

On the last math section, i was completely fogged up and could not think of anything. It was like i was doing math after 3 hours of sleep.

So how do you not get bogged down with this beast? How do you make your head stop hurting and focus more clearly?

Very simply, fear. ): I have really bad test nerves, especially with math. I was actually shaking at one point.
Also, I had a good snack and a good breakfast, but really I think it was that I was so scared. :P

My hands were shaking when I tried to use a calculator.
This was my second time taking it, and I wasn’t as nervous, so I think that helped.

I wasn’t nervous then, but I’m nervous now after seeing all these people convincing me that my answers weren’t so good after all :)

I wasn’t nervous at all (then again this is like my 5th standardized test), but I did kinda get fogged up…but I have this trick I call extreme focusing. You envision all your focus going out of your head and coming to a point. And BAM I’m instantly more focused.

i was getting kinda ‘fogged’ up too, esp after the CR passages.
the first few sections were good; i was actually surprised they weren’t that hard, but as the sections went on, they got worse ):

i eat raw eggs and drink water

I’m exhausted NOW; during the test, I was shaking - and not the “little quaver, occasional butterfly” shaking. “Shaking” as in having to take my left hand in my right hand and clamp down HARD on it after the essay and after the Section 7 Math. I actually lost about 20 seconds on Section 2 because my hand was shaking too violently to write down the answer to #1. And I only took this test to raise my Math Score (I already have 800 W and 770 CR, but I’m not a Math person). sigh

This is exactly how I feel right now (it’s a quote from a video two of my classmates made for English in which they stayed up for 24 hours straight and tested themselves every 2 hours to evaluate their mental functioning):

Rachel: It’s 2 in the morning. We’re taking another test; Megan has to look at these two sets of symbols and determine which symbols are on the left side but not on the right. hands book to Megan
Megan: stares into book for 20 seconds …The 4…and the 25…I don’t care. I don’t. closes book and slides it off the bed

is this thread messed up. If i am the thread creator, then how did someoen post before me. Anyway, i was actually myself very nervous at the begginging, which somewhat helpmed me.

But how do you make it that your head does not hurt?

Every test that i take that is longer than 2 hours, i cant deal with it anymore

^It’s a forum glitch. Don’t worry about it.

adderall of course

lol i took my adderal with me to the test and i kept popping them every break. It wore off becuase it was the instant realease.

The secret is to take a practice SAT test every Saturday as you would take the real SAT - timed and everything.

first off taking a pratice test every satudurday seems a little unfeasble, becuase

A. Who wakes 7 am on a saturday especially to take an SAT pratice test?

Wouldn’t you run out of pratice tests eventually?

C. Wouldn’t you appear very odd if you wasted the whole day on saturday if you did wake up later to take a practice?

I understand where you are coming from, but isint there an easier way to build up stamina?

^ Ha, you put A, 2., then C.

shows how compitent i am. On the grid in section, i wrote down all my answers but forgot to grid the actually bubbels. I did not even notice. Luckely the proctor was cool and caught it before it was too late.

although it is technically illegal, adderall provided me with a sustained release of energy and focus. I honestly felt the same from section 1 all the way to section 9. The confidence, concentration, and ability to recognize things faster definitely helped. It may only be a placebo, but it sure as hell made me a lot more confident, and as a result will yield a higher score for me. Unlike energy drinks, adderall really seems to target the brain functions, and lasts up to 10+ hours without a crash. The energy/focus gained from adderall is sustained as well, meaning it isn’t a short burst of energy, and then back to being tired.

I reccomend adderall XR which is the specially made for extended release. I took a 30 mg tablet and I am 200 lbs. Take a certain amount of mgs depending on Body weight, and tolerance.

Yeah adderal works wonders. But sometimes it makes me nervous about things and then i get all shaky. But unfortianlty i ran out of it before the test
I was so tired that i stoped caring and fantized how spending a reading section sleeping would almost be good as getting into Harvard

i take the SAT every saturday morning. but only during the month before the test.
