I mean, if the BART closes at 12am, how can you stay up late and party?

BART is not the only way to travel and SF is not the only destination. You buy a transit pass each semester that gives you extensive bus travel in the area. There are also buses that run into SF, fellow students who have a car will bring along others to parties, and then there are the parties that go on in frat row or in apartments near the campus for which your feet are the transportation.

how late does the AC transit run?

Here’s some helpful info

[Maps and Schedules | AC Transit](http://www.actransit.org/maps/stoptostop.php?version_id=14&line=F¤t_schedule=7228)

if you want to take the 1r or the 1, they run all day, BUT with less frequency. also, the number of the bus becomes 801 (1am to 5am), not 1

Rent a car from zipcar and keep one person sober. I think zipcar has new deals where it’s like 30 cents after a certain time till like 6 am or something.

What is kape1one talking about? I looked at the schedule but I’m not familiar with the Bay Area so I don’t know what the stops mean. Basically I want to know that if I was lets say partying at SF and it becomes 2am and I’m drunk (so no zipcar), am I screwed and have to sleep on the streets?

You can get a hotel room? Think of it as a vacation except you’re saving money on traveling to a far away place like New York. So you saved $400 on flight and $200 on food and $200 on parking! : ]

Personally, I don’t see the appeal of being drunk late at night in the streets of downtown SF and downtown Berkeley. But to each his own I guess…

You can use Transit 511: Transit.511.org

For a sample of what you would have to do if you were stranded drunk as a skunk in SF, put “Battery St & Embarcadero Ctr, San Francisco” (this is the closest main street I can think of close enough to the SF terminal) in the start section and “Telegraph Ave & Bancroft Way, Berkeley” in the end section. Then put leave at “2:00 AM”. You can toggle the other features, but I doubt you’ll get any results that are truly convenient.

shadow: i am assuming you are going with others/or are not female?

i dont think its very safe to be wandering around by yourself drunk as fu-uck at 2 am in SF, with transportation or not…

lol that’s why you don’t fall for the SF is only a short ride away because what they don’t tell you is you can’t stay past 12 lest you want to wait for a fricken bus that will inevitably be late.

Best bet is to get a car and have a desi driver.

So do berkeley kids not party in SF?

If you know anyone at SFSU, it’ll make **** less complicated.

Berkeley kids usually party in Berkeley.

Freshmen/sophomores go to frat parties and then stumble home. Juniors/Seniors usually do apartment parties until they turn 21 and then go to bars (Berkeley has a lot of decent ones).

And you can’t really party in SF till you’re 21 anyway… 18+ clubs basically suck. And by the time you are 21 you will probably have a car or have a friend who has one.

I’ve been to a couple concerts in SF and barely missed the last Bart. We took the 800 bus back to Berkeley, which wasn’t bad at all, and actually free with the Class Pass compared to ~$5 for the Bart.

Generally, a person with a car would be your best bet, though.

Uhhhhhh why hasn’t anyone mentioned a taxi? If you’re a with a group, call a van and it’s like 5 bucks per person, which is almost the cost of one-way bart anyway.

I’d do that over the 800 anyday.

Ugh. I was hoping going to Berkeley would be like going to NYU, and it would actually be a hassle to have a car. I hate cars. I hope gas goes up to 100$ a gallon

aren’t you going to be a freshman? how exactly did you expect to get into clubs in nyc?

and yes Berkeley is a place where it is a hassle to have a car.

Hassle to park a car maybe, but hassle to have a car? Hecky naw.

Fake ID. Also I just like walking around the city at night and eating food at like 2am at restaurants. Sigh. I guess that’s something I can only experience at NYC
