How do you guys study?

My way of studying, i think, is a very inefficient one, but it works for me. I know that if i could force myself somehow to get off the computer i would be like 200x more efficient. For some reason though, I can't. Anyway I am studying for a calc test thats coming up on tuesday. Doing the second last homework and I have not even familiarized myself with everything. I study while I do my homework or more like I get the materials by practicing it. However, for other reading-related stuff, I try to prepare early, because it is even harder for me to absorb stuff by reading =___=. I feel that I need a lot of timeeee to study just because I do something else while I study, either on cc or on something else.

Glance over study guide and recheck unclear definitions a day before the exam.

I tend to just memorize EVERYTHING, either if it's something written or if I hear it. But, the best is probably exposure and repetition. Keep yourself busy while studying, I do my best to guess what may be on the test and ask myself questions while reading.

"ask myself questions while reading."

wow that would be hard for me cause i wouldnt even know what questions i would ask to myself lol.

I make huge outlines, a week or so before the exam and just go over it again and again, until it is all internalized.

The length of the outlines are usually between 12-18 pages long in MSWord.

For me, being on the computer helps me study; since, I only study using a computer, aside from readings.

AdamantineX - me too. I can't force myself to get off computer. It's so sad. TV too...such a big problem. Usually, I study in last minute which is not good

Hopefully, when I live in dorm, I'll study better? I won't carry TV with me to dorm. but when im in the mood of study, i do it efficiently tho. I make notes and im very organized

hmm...
i pay attention in class
photographic memory and audio memory helps a lot
well thats about it... pay attention in class lol

take adderall/ritalin, etc :P

i have a semi-photographic memory with memorization and maps (but not with like, formulas...my mind is so selective) so i make a study guide with everything that could potentially be on the test and just study and memorize. sugar-free rockstar and other ridiculous sources of caffiene help too. i have to take a break every hour for a few minutes to keep my brain from not exploding, so i'll usually play a game on my computer or on my phone to keep the memory paths fresh. i have it down to a science now.

And I thought I was the only one opting for the sugar-free; I've gone through 4 since Thursday night.

ektaylor-sugar-free is the only way to go. otherwise i would've gained 20lbs. (also, let's discuss how sugar-free and zero-carb rockstar are the EXACT SAME THING.)

oh yea and for calc i usually make one or two page note of the formulas that I need to remember. Basically, after I know how to do them, the only thing left is just to memorize the formula and some tricks/shortcuts.

I have a prob with surfing the net for 5 or 10 min periodically while I'm studying at home. When ya really just gotta hit the books I find it helpful to just bite the bullet and head to the library.

Oh man. The best study experience I ever had was for my AP Bio exam. My teacher was an absolute joke, totally arrogant, and I was completely uninspired to do any extra work but the bare minimum in that class. Come test time, I really wanted to pass (lol@me) and so I bought the (reputably) hardest study guide out there. I mauled it with highlighters and ballpoint pen outlining for about a week, nearly memorizing the pages and going over the practice tests like mad. I passed the test with a 5. Awesome. Too bad I haven't done that kind of studying since...uh.

Look over the material right before a Exam, I have photographic memory, Recite major points in the chapter, Use my quantitative skills & comprehension skills to elaborate the main points. When writing essay's, Use a lot of filler words, make the paper appear more beautiful in its context than its really worth.

when i do get off from the computer though, i become super effective. I don't have photographic memory and it's hard for me to memorize. I don't like memorizing but, instead, i try to put things into a system of logic so i can memorize it easily. =)

I usually hold my professors at gunpoint until they give me an A.

I do what all cc students do--cram.

3 steps: skim the text, read and highlight the text, go back and outline (in handwriting) the mainpoints and highlighted sections. Optional fourth step - mindmapping.
Unfortunately, i often don't have the time or discipline to tediously go through the whole process...

"....as a result, I end up cramming."

Down some amphetamines with some red bull and I'm good to go
