How do you improve after 2000+?

Hi, I've been scoring around 2000-2100 on my practice tests, and my December test I got a 2080 (720 W, 670 M and 690 CR). I'm looking for a 2200+ for spring, so my question is how feasible is that? What would I have to do to achieve that?

So far, my study strategy has been to just do tons of practice tests then go over the answers. I've used up 6 tests in the BB, and several other practice books as well.

Any suggestions? What did you guys do once you hit 2000+? Also, would it be worthwhile to redo the BB tests (since I've been told those are the best ones)?

Thanks so much!!!

Apart from just slogging through practice tests you might want to consider taking the ACT. I was in a similar situation as you (2150 SAT didn’t know how to improve). I ended up with a 35 on the ACT (2300-2340 SAT) and didn’t even send my SAT to colleges.
Good Luck

I’ve considered taking the ACTs, but I don’t think I’d have time to focus on two things at once? I don’t know, I already took one SAT II, too. I feel like I should just focus completely on the SATs for now, but the thing is I don’t know if my strategy is all that effective.

LOTS OF PRACTICE!!!

I started with a 1980 last January (590 CR 770 M 620 W) and ended up scoring a 2330 super score after October (760 CR 770 M 800 W 12 essay).

Seriously, all I did was practice and learn vocab. In all, I went through about 16 practice tests and learned several hundred vocab words (you really only have to learn from direct hits, hot words, and krieger’s essential, once you know those, you should be fine).

And make sure you review your practice tests, that’s the key. You really have to go over EVERY question, not just the ones you got wrong. You should be able to score a perfect score (easily) if you were to retake your test.

Good luck!

I’m in a similar predicament. I got a 2090 (670 W 770 M 650 R) in november and now I’m just reviewing vocab again and taking more practice tests. Not focusing too heavily on math for the retake, but I would recommend barron’s math if you haven’t done it yet. For writing, I’m just relooking at old stuff and reviewing new terms. Good luck!

Okay thanks everyone!
So just practice more, and thats it?
Also, should I buy another BB and redo it?

Thank you for the help!!

It really varies on the person. Totally manageable, but personally I think full tests just bore you for the real thing. Don’t redo the tests. That won’t help that much since you’ve already seen the material. You practice enough, but try changing the way you practice. Consider alternating isolating a section at a time rather than taking test after test. Like do math prep for a week then switch to CR the next. Read all the study tips, especially with math cause they help with speed.

I went from a 2030 first take in December '12 (630 CR 680 M 720 W) to a 2260 in June and a 2310 superscore after a third take last October (760 CR 790 M 760 W). I only really studied in the weeks leading up to each test, and I never took a full practice test, just individual sections. Plus, taking short sections is easier to work into a schedule.

Also, Barron’s 2400 is a really really helpful book. I’m not sure how easy it is to find though cause I borrowed it from my cousin who took the SAT in 2006… but if you can get it, it’s worth it.
