ATM I'm hoping that, when the time comes, I will be able to entirely subsist on financial aid (I fit in most aid brackets) and merit scholarships. If a college requires that I pay a substantial amount of money, then I probably will not really consider going there.

If I need to pay some small amount (say, <5k a year), then I would probably get some sort of job in order to attend.

In terms of jobs, I would ideally like to work somewhere that piques my intellectual curiosity and pays rather well. Failing that, I'd be happy to settle for something that involves outdoor work (construction maybe?) and that allows for me to be somewhat active. On the other side of the spectrum, I hear nude modeling (for art classes and whatnot) pays reasonably well and isn't too difficult, but having never really done it, I can't quite comment.

How do you intend to pay (or not pay?) for college?

I don’t. If I have to pay $500 to anywhere, I won’t go. Financial reasons are the most important and it’s either all or none. If not…no college for me later on.

EDIT: Keep in mind that I’m very shallow and ignorant about colleges yet, so I concede that my opinions very well may change in the future…if it’s reasonable.

Financial aid and lots of it. My family is living entirely on Social Security (not very much of it, either), so I have an EFC of $0.

Whatever financial aid doesn’t cover I’ll get loans for, and then I might get a job for pocket money since there’s no way my mom will be able to send me any.

Invoyable- I just went dorm shopping, bought the cheapest of the cheapest things, and spent $300.
And textbooks for the first semester will be a little under $400 (and that’s getting the best deals through amazon market/ebay).

Chances are you’ll have to pay at least 500 regardless of where you go.

As to the topic, I don’t qualify for financial aid… so yeah. Fun times!

Well I’m hoping that I am a National Achievement Scholar.
My two favourite schools right now are my instate (University of Arizona) and Howard University. Both of those schools will give a full ride for a National Achievement Scholar, and my dad’s job will give a 3k scholarship on top of that.

But if that doesn’t work out, I know I will qualify for some decent financial aid. And I have no problem going to my instate college where I get a tuition waiver for grades and test scores, and will only have to pay a small amount for room and board.

I’ve always been such a frugal person. Even though I think I can get into some great colleges (I have my eyes on Wash U. & Rice), I don’t even know if I would go. All I would think about was the money I could’ve saved getting a very similar education. And I’m also the kind of person that can make the best of any experience, so fit is very flexible for me.

But anyways I digress, I plan on mainly scholarships and FA. My dad will be willing to help out too. He’s paying around 7k right now a year for my bro to go to Princeton.

Ill be relying mostly on financial aid and merit aid. If i gotta pay over 7,000 i probably wont go to that school. Anything under ill probably pay some from a job and get some loans for the rest

we’ll i’ve been working an average of 35-38hrs/week for almost four years. i’ll continue to work while in college, and i’ll be paying off student loans for many years to come. i got a couple of scholarships and some financial aid. it’s gonna be tough.

A combination of financial aid (I probably won’t get anything though), scholarships, money from getting a job, student loans, and maybe some loans from my brother.

It’s going to be pretty hard to put myself through college though. I don’t think my parents are really willing to help out.

I’ll be looking for some financial aid and, if I stay in-state (not my goal), then I’ll likely have the Michigan Promise scholarship–but mostly financial aid, and any scholarship I can scrounge up. I’ve been saving the money I won on Jeopardy mostly for college, too, and that will be covering what it can.

It will still be tight. I hope the EFC ends up being fairly close to what we can really pay.
