I don't know much about frats or how to join them so could someone please explain...

i have the same question, i am an international… i´ve heard you have to know someone from the inside to get in… dont really know

During Rush week, you’re going to have to rush and they’ll invite you into one if they desire.

You need to register with IFC . [University of Texas at Austin - Office of the Dean of Students - Greek, Leadership and Intercultural Education - Joining an Organization - Interfraternity Recruiting - Register with IFC](http://deanofstudents.utexas.edu/glie/IFCrecruitment/)
There were events with chapters during orientation if you went to that and there were “unofficial” events as early as last spring. It is tougher coming in if you don’t know anyone, but you just have to put yourself out there more.

You have to sell your soul and dignity. :p

Just kidding.

Yeah, you do rush week and try to get to know the brothers from the frat(s) you’re interested in joining. Ask them about upcoming events they’ll be having and keep yourself posted.

CC is probably not the best source for info about frats… I assume that most of us aren’t involved with Greek life, and that most people involved with Greek life aren’t CC members… but I could be wrong!

I’m a happy ex-Greek.

the registration link hkem123 posted is just for frats to contact you with information, you don’t have to do that and it’s pretty useless anyway; afaik, a lot of them don’t even bother with that
just look into one you’re interested in, find out when their parties are during rush week, show your interest and get to know people there
you’ll register with the actual student organization when you’re given a bid and become a pledge
edit: @bombazo, you certainly don’t needt o know anybody but it definitely makes things a lot easier

what exactly is rushing and rush week?
