The thing that I hate about humanitites and non-math courses is that I haven't found out a way to test my knowledge of the subject. How do you guys do it?

In, let's say, Physics, you're able to do problems over and over again to see if you have the concepts down. However, how do you know if you've understood/memorized the information while reading books? I constantly find myself going back to try to recall information (but then I just keep going back) and it takes me hours to move on. That's why I read so slow. I don't know how much I should reread...

Do anyone else have the same problem?

Hm..for particular books you could take the test on Sparknotes.

For the humanities (for me, this mainly applies to History and English), I basically consider myself to have understood something if I can discuss it in-depth, mainly with my classmates. There's no really easy way to test like there is for math and science, so I just talk about it with friends and classmates and see how I do in a discussion.

But that's me, so yeah. =/

Usually, I look over the material and then put aside my notes in order to repeat it all out loud to myself like a story. It seems to help =] When I can repeat it all perfectly and understand what I'm saying, I know I've learned the material well
