I just tried to book a flight from ichigan to NY and was amazed that I am late, and that most flights are already booked. I called the school, and was told that it was fine to book for the Tues. evening prior to vacation as most classes will either be cancelled, or the professor will understand that it is difficult to get flights. I was amazed at the prices, and was unable to get a direct flight. I did check the student websites. Now for Winter Break, I would like to purchase tickets. I am guessing that tickets can't be purchased until exams are posted? Can someone help me with this?

The exam schedule is set well in advance (http://www.umich.edu/~regoff/exams/fall.html). As soon as you know your schedule, you know when your exams will be. There's a chance you could be done with your classes before the exam date, but this will at least tell you the latest you could possibly need to stay on campus.

Do most people wait until their schedule is completed? I'd hate to not get on a flight again.

Nevermind:D

I'm flying from NY to Detroit and bought my tickets for thanksgiving already. It was a direct flight and there were only 2 tickets left when I booked them; and that was like a month or more ago.

I know..I just booked for Thanksgiving and could not get a direct flight. I don't want to run into this problem for Winter break, but I am not sure if it is too early because I don't know my schedule. What do most people do about this?

How much was your ticket for Thanksgiving weekend from Detroit to NY. Last year I paid $330 on American for a direct flight from Detroit to Laguardia, but this year American is charging $650 and Northwest is charging $700. That's a ridiculous amount of money! Does anybody drive from Ann Arbor to NY?

Try a connecting flight on USAIR . That's what I did for half the price. I am still wondering when to book for winter. If we don't have our schedules yet, I am assuming we have to wait. However, with the prices the way they are, the longer you wait, the worse it gets.
