Well first off, what made you want to come to this school? And secondly, how much are you enjoying it? Elaborate about that in terms of athletics, campus, clubs, curriculum, academics, food, social life, city life, things to do, student body, professors, financial help etc.
From your overall experience at this university, rate how much you like it on a scale from 1-10.

Well after a semester, I will be returnign to St. Louis to attend Wash U. I have been impressed by the academics but past that I can't stand it. I have some friends and some I will really regret leaving...but I can't wait to get back to my home turf. I have found most of the people to prove the jappy, spoiled, snobby stereotype alive at Emory. I wasn't used to this environment...if you are and enjoy it...you will love Emory. Overall, I'm glad I gave it a chance but if I went back in time I would have chosen a different school...sorry for the negative response!!

To counter BrittBear's statement, I am a freshmen at emory this year, and I can honestly say that this school is amazing in all aspects. I came to this school because when i visited, i immediatly felt at home, the people here were all genuinely nice, the campus was beautiful, and the city of atlanta has so much to offer. I was nervous however when I got here because I heard all the stereotypes about snobby, stuck up kids. It is true that there are a lot of rich kids here. However, I have found that most people are very down to earth and work extra hard to prove that they don't fit into that common stereotype. There are of course some people who are jappy and spoiled, maybe more than at other schools, but they in no way make up a majority of the student body. Athletics although not highly competitive, are pretty popular here. A lot of people go to the inter frat games or intermural games. The food here is not too bad, the cafeteria food is not amazing, but not horrible. However, on campus, Emory has a lot of places that have great food, theres a noodle house, pizza place, food court, sub place etc. Socially, there is a lot to be offered at this school. Usually Mon-Wed night people relax with their friends in the dorms, Thurs night everyone goes to a club (every week there is Emory night at a club, so you are with all people you know, and they let in anyone over 18), Fri and Sat night people usually go to bars or frat parties. City life is great, Atlanta has so much culture to it. You can go to really nice restaurants in Buckhead, really funky places in Little Five Points, and clubs in the more city part of Atlanta. As far as professors go, there is a message board on the emory site about who the good ones are. If you follow that, you will have AMAZING teachers, if not, you could end up with a lot of classes taught by grad students which are usually boring and not very intellectually stimulating. I hope that you don't listen to the stereotypes about Emory, you really should come visit and get to know the school for yourself, its really a great place! Good Luck!

youre totally right, seriously, come here for the waffle house alone, im from the northeast where we don't have it, and i now realize how truly deprived i was

^I had never been to any other US city besides NYC, Miami and Tampa and I hated Atlanta... maybe nightlife is good, but the downtown looks pretty desolate in broad daylight. the Emory village is neat though;) and the school is worth it.

SAT_hater, what are you talking about? It's not bad. The reason it looks desolate is because everyone drives, no walking, AND, the majority of jobs are on the perimeter which is where everyone is during the DAY. At night, though, it's lively.

sorry runningcircles, didn't mean to sound rude:) I was for a mere 5 hour visit and I din't really have time to feel the vibe of the city, so this is just a personal first impression. it's probably a nice place since everyone I've spoken to likes it. I know a lot of people from the Tampa Bay area that would regularly drive all the way up to A-town for the weekend, so there must be something about it. It's just that what I saw was below my expectations in terms of landscaping, cleanliness and overall feel. perhaps they were too high after I'd seen NYC, perhaps southern car-based cities are not my type, perhaps I should have stayed longer to check out the nightlife...

Yeah, the first impression of the city won't always be the best. You get that "OMG, I'm in the ghetto" feeling at first, but after a while you see that it's a nice city.

classy princess...atlanta is definitely really great and their are tons of things to do: lots of pro sports (esp the braves), great restaraunts, clubs and bars, shopping, trendy areas, museums, tons of concerts the new aquarium which i havent been to yet but is supposedly absolutely amazing. The best part is that we have marta public trnasportation so if you want to go anywhere in atltanta you can get there.

As for emory itself i love it. i knew it was the school for me the minute i got here for my visit. The people are great, and even the jappy ones are really nice. I'm absolutely the least jappy person ever and i don't mind them at all. Also they dont make up as much as the population as people act like they do. The food in the cafeteria varies from day to day but it is never bad and i can always find soemthing i like (and smb left out the best place to eat on campus in my opinion...dooleys which is open 24 hours and serves all kinds of great food). The classes are great: difficult but very interesting though as with any school you can get stuck in a class that really sucks...luckily you have a week or two to drop it if you want to. Social life is great and ther is always something going on especially if you get involved in one of the million organizations on campus. Also, emory puts a huge emphasis on making your freshman year great so your RAs and SAs and all of the res lfe staff are constantly coming up with fun programs for your res hall. Athletics are actually becoming more popular this year because of our SGA trying to promote school spirit by declaring war on washu. im really into school spirit so i go to lots of the games and emory is really stepping it up this year to make sports mroe important. And if you dont want to play a varsity sport there are tons of club and intramural teams to join or you can go work out at our absolutely amazing gym.

so yeah i wrote you a long response but thats just how much i love this school....ive seriously never been happier
