I have like 5 ralph lauren polos ($65 each), pair of abercrombie shorts ($40), hollister jeans ($50), shoes ($80), various other less expensive clothes. I'm pretty sure even a roommate or his friend would steal them, or even when they're in for washing/drying, so how would I go about preventing this?

Stop being paranoid would be a good start.

well no i think it's a good concern. i stayed at a college dorm for a few months and i know a lot of my clothes got stolen.

i think you should talk to your roommate on the first day about respecting everyones property. and then lock your door when you're out and don't leave clothes in the dryer for days

get a trunk with a lock on it to store all of your valuables

your roomie most likely wont steal ****. it's laundry time when clothes go missing. you really can't prevent it though, unless you stay in the laundry room for 2 hrs. while your clothers are in the washer/dryer. doing your laundry during high traffic times (sunday evening, monday night...etc) helps somewhat though, because no one will take things when there are 5+ people in the room.

:( one i left clothes in the dryer for 5 minutes...and two pairs of pants, and some underwear (!) went missing. even if you grab your clothes the second the dryer's done, nothing can stop someone from interrupting the drying cycle and stealing something.

ok indian your clothes are not expensive!!

wow a $40 pair of shorts...i'm sure there are A LOT! I REPEAT A LOT! MORE people at your school with way more expensive stuff!!!

c'mon its hollister and abercrombie....ya gotta love 'em but if its not stolen than they will fall apart after 3 wears anyways!!!

i agree with lolo....its not like you're taking Armani or DG to school, Hollister and Abercrombie are a dime a dozen..chill.

put gps tracking tags on each of your clothes

label your underwear

you could go the summer camp route and label your clothes, although this will really only prevent someone who knows you from stealing your clothes, and odds are the person who is going to steal from you won't know you. I actually never thought of this, and none of my clothes were ever stolen, and some of the stuff in my room was wayyyyyy more expensive than any of that.

Easy. Don't own any.

Lol, Chris C2 has got it. And if you must own clothes, buy really ugly ones that no one else will want. :-P

For some reason that really made me laugh. Only if you have to have clothes, because they're not necessary at all.

What the hell people steal other people's clothes? I'm sorry but that's ridiculous and I find it disgusting actually. I wouldn't wear something that somone else had put on even if it's been cleaned. I would think there are better things to steal and clothes ain't one of them.

I'm really worried about this as well. I've spent thousands of my parents' dollars scouring the streets of New York for great fashion. I think I'm going to get a padlock for my closet and each drawer of my wardrobe.

Lol, scartletleavy, glad I made someone laugh. :)

indian: u should kill urself kthanxbi :)

Or you could casually mention, oh that? Yeah.. picked it up in a used clothing store. Great deal huh?

" one i left clothes in the dryer for 5 minutes...and two pairs of pants, and some underwear (!) went missing."

are you a girl? or a boy?

once my friend's custom made shirts were stolen, but those shirts don't fit anybody other than himself. it's kinda weird. Most of my more expensive shirts/sweaters require pressing/dry-clean, so i give them to the dry cleaning service, and there's no way your clothes can be stolen.

Almost everyone in my college owns at least one polo with the pony (i don't tho), the chance of people stealing that is minimal. and AF and hollister? that's very high school. Most college people don't wear them.

gem's a girl
