just wondering what people suggestions are for keeping things together and organized.
Like how do you put all your shower stuff together? Do you keep your pajamas hanged up in the closet or like under the bed? Just any kind of suggestions to conserve the most space! :)

bring as little crap as possible (decorations tend to clutter a room the most)

I have clothes/pants hangers

i have a ton of crap in my room (three suv’s full, no joke), and it’s an average-sized single. so to everyone who says it’s impossible to fill up your room and keep it clean and have lots of floor space…they’re wrong. my room is always the cleanest in the entire building, and i’m always prepared for everything.

foldable clothes go in the set of drawers the college provides, silk shirts and dresses and stuff get hung up. everything else finds a place in under-the-bed plastic sliding boxes, the desk the college provided, and in the nightstand i brought with me.

In Bed, Bath and Beyond you can buy a shower tote for about $8. It will fit everything you need to carry to the shower and has holes in it for drainage…

Ditto the under the bed plastic sliding boxes. Staples paper boxes tend to fit under the beds and can hold lots of stuff too. I’m not sure what Aston meant, but there are pants hangers that have multiple slots. You can buy a shoe holder that hangs in the closet as well - holds multiple pairs of shoes.

oh yeah. hanging shoe racks are the best. mine fits over the inside of my closet door and saves tons of space.

Yes, def. get the sliding plastic drawers for under the bed! You can even tape covers to the front if you don’t want them to be see-through.

For the closet I had the tall hanging shoe rack. I also had one of those double bar hangers (so you can have a second row hanging off the bottom bar.)

You can buy a lot of really great storage stuff for remarkably cheap. My mom is the Queen of Economy. She’s cheap and she could fit a pyramid in my one story house. I’m not kidding. I’m totally depending on her. I can organize like a pro, but she can just about defy the laws of physics. I second everything above, but also, there are “hoodie hangers”. Hoodies take up a lot of space. Buy one hanger that has hooks on it like a coat hanger, then hang all of your hoodies off it. My sister saved a ton of space this way. Also, if possible, put your bed up on the highest level/on cinder blocks (cheaper and higher than bed raisers) and put you’re stuff underneath it. If you’re like me and can’t jump very high, invest in a small footstool.

sounds good thanks so much guys. keep the ideas and tricks coming if you can :)

My trick: Things need to have a designated place. When I buy something I figure out where to put it. Everything else ends up being “stuff” and “clutter”…
Shower stuff is in a box. I even have a small box for the most used cooking stuff (oil, salt, pepper, vinegar,…) It keeps the kitchen organized.

i bought my D tons of bins and storage from target and walmart. boy is she glad i did.

My dorm room will be bigger than my current bedroom is! I’m just going to bring as little as possible. Sell as much as possible, keep other things (like my desktop) at my grandparents’ house, etc.
And then practice Tetris until I can find a way to store almost anything! XD

A thing with boxes and other containers: make sure you don’t have extras, because extra boxes/containers inevitably fill with junk you do not need.
