Why does everyone here always assume that I’m a SHE ??

‘Shannon’ can be a man’s name; it’s also a river in Ireland

But my Handle is NOT my RL name … in a branch of the fields of applied mathematics and electrical engineering called Information Theory it’s a measure of the uncertainty associated with a random variable.

Let’s say you are asked to make some guesses about someone’s personality who works in a business office, and your assumptions can only be based on visual clues

If the office has a dress code specifying that everyone must wear a blue or grey suit, then the fact that your subject is wearing a blue suit won’t tell you much about them

OTOH, if there is no office dress code, and the attire there ranges from surfer shorts & flip-flops up to Prada with jimmy-Choos, that blue suit is much more likely to be revealing of the wearer’s persona

That’s a layman’s explanation … for a more technical description , try =
