How do you quickly do these two problems?

100=.05x
x=2000</p>

<p>Plug 2000 into either of the original equations since they will be the same </p>

<p>300+.2(2000)=700 (700 is the compensation)</p>

<p>18) tx+12y=-3</p>

<p>Ok so whenever you get an equation in the Ax+By=C (standard) form you can quickly calculate the slope by using -A/B=slope</p>

<p>ok so:</p>

<p>-t/12=-10
-t=-120
t=120</p>

<p>Alternatively you could always rearrange the original equation to get it into y=mx+b (slope intercept) form (which is what most people are more comfortable with for whatever reason)</p>

<p>tx+12y=-3
12y=-tx-3
y=(-t/12)x-.25</p>

<p>-t/12=-10
you get “t” to be 120 once again. </p>
