I am taking AP Biology now and have to read the textbook. Honestly, I don't like science but stll want to take this class for both the AP and the subject test purpose. So my teacher makes us read chapters, and the wordings are really weird. I'm using Campell textbook now and super complicated.
Question: How do you read a science textbook and understand while remember it at the same time?

It’s hard espically bio!

I take the class because I heard it was the easiest AP science… But the teacher lost me every time in class!

Read it intensely and remember everything while you read it. The better you can do this, the better grade you will get.

how do I remember it?

Using your own words, repeat facts and concepts you think are important after you read them. Doing this in your head takes less than a second, but it will help you both with memory and comprehension.

I defiantly wouldn’t recommend trying to memorize everything, I’m in AP Bio right now, you should try to make charts connecting all the terms and how they’re related it will make it a LOT easier. Oh, and also take notes on everything in the book that will help reinforce the important topics.

yeah i agree with above poster. writing stuff down helped me remember it more. and review regularly

If it’s a hard passage I do the following:
Do a quick read.
Read again, take notes
Review Key Terms
Read again at moderate pace
Do questions at end
Verbally summarize chapter

It’s great to do during study hall if you have no homework.

^I do something similar as well. It’s actually pretty effective if you do it and don’t slack off. The most important thing is to fully understand something before moving on to a new concept.
