Help a poor guy out!

I've been told by several folks that Fiske Guide to Colleges is great; it's one of the resources the HS has on hand. In addition to telling you about the school you are researching, it mentions several others that are similar which you may also wish to consider & research. You can also try collegeboard.com and petersons.com. I also check Peterson's guide for the region the school is in.
Your HS should also have a guidance counselor that is paid to help advise you. Your local college may also have resources for you to consider. Good luck!
You can also search on the web for any school you're particularly interested in. It's also helpful to just start asking around to find out where people in your life have gone to college or sent their relatives to college--they can add a different perspective to your search.

That's really all you need.

Don't want to toot my own horn, but I will. I started a blog that lists all sorts of internet resources for researching colleges that I have found helpful. You can find it by clicking on my name, then see Carolyns home page.

Carolyn's site is the best new resource out there.

I'll second that.
