<p>I plan to apply caltech early action, and I have a research mentor who is not part of my school but is person from whom I plan to ask for a third a letter of rec. How would he send it in? Would he need to complete the common app evaluation like my other teachers, or would just a letter suffice?</p>

<p>My guidance counselor told me that they just write a letter and then mail that to the college, maybe with your name in the subject line or something.
Has someone else heard something different? cause that’s what I plan to do.</p>
