How do you stay organized during the school year?

How do you stay organized at school and at home? Do you use your locker often? Do you have a binder for each subject? Do you prefer a composition book, a notebook, etc. for notes? Do you have a designated location in your room to keep old papers, or do you just throw them out?

Last year it was practically impossible for me to use my locker. All of my classes were on the first and second floors, while my locker was on the third. It was way too energy consuming to go all the way to the third floor just to go to my locker. Time wasn't an issue in between classes, but energy was. But next year my locker is guaranteed on the second floor, so I'll be using it often.

My plan for next year: I have 3 binders for 7 subjects. 2 binders will hold 2 subjects, and 1 will hold 3. I have one notebook for every subject, and I'm putting the notebook inside the corresponding binder. Inside the binder will also contain loose paper for assignments. Subjects will be divided by a single divider. And of course a small pencil bag and the school's student planner.

I have an accordion folder at home to store old papers, but that's about it. Everything else stays with me or in my locker. What about you all?

I usually have separate binders for my AP/honors and dual enrollment classes and then one or two other binders for all of my other subjects (we don’t have that many per year since my school is on the block system).

For notes, I usually have sections for them in my binders and then I simply use loose leaf for the actual notes themselves. I do use my locker when it’s convenient. If I’m going from one class to another and my locker is on the way, I’ll stop and use it. Otherwise, I simply use it during breaks and lunch.

I also don’t keep old papers… unless they’re really important.

For each class, I have either a 1-inch 3-ring binder or a pocket folder. I also have a multi-subject spiral notebook for note-taking (one notebook per semester). At the end of each semester, I empty each binder/folder, and throw away anything that I won’t ever need again. I put the rest of the papers in a pocket folder (seperate folder for each class). As for my locker, I use it several times per day. I go to my locker before homeroom, and get the stuff that I need for my first few classes. I go to my locker again before lunch to put this stuff back in my locker, and I go to it after lunch to get the stuff I need for the rest of my classes. If I have time, I stop at my locker between classes to put away heavy books or binders so I don’t have to carry them.
