How do you study?

I know that different people study different ways... but I need some ideas.
I haven't had to study before this year... and now I do.
How do I study so I know everything important from a 50+ page chapter? (And I know about the large print and titles thing)

Ideas?

For history classes I just take basic notes and go over them and everything comes back. For science, I stil haven't figured it out. AP Bio is killing me with tests on 200+ pages of text book reading + lab info. Good luck!

For me, I usually paint a picture in my mind. As you read, make symbols or pictures...or some sort of story in your mind.

It's kind of like a homemade movie.

I cram. All the time. Terrible habit.

Just reading it does the job for me.

CRAm big time the night before the test. Just read everything and take notes on stuff you don't know.

It depends on the class.

If it's some sort of humanities class, take good notes on the reading and highlight the important names, events, terms, etc RIGHT AFTER YOU TAKE THE NOTES. Then, a few days before the test, take them all out, read them through, and then type up a study sheet of sorts using mostly the highlighted information. That should be a collection of the most important terms and concepts, and typing it again will help you a) memorize it, and b) put it in logical order in your mind.

^^^^ really good idea

actually it could apply to science concepts as well
