How do you survive your junior year?

I am going into my junior year of high school and I am freaking out. Because my brother told me that this is the most stressful year that I will have.

Maybe it was for him, but that’s not necessarily the case for everyone. It was probably my least stressful year, and the one in which I performed the best.

Senior year was actually the most stressful year for me. My classwork (including difficulty) probably went up four-fold from junior to senior year, and during second semester senior year, teachers piled way more work on us because ‘we were done with apps.’

As for junior year, yes, I went up and took 4 more APs than sophomore year, but with careful planning, I managed to get good grades, hang out with friends, play varsity tennis, and play tournament chess at the same time.

Just don’t freak out prematurely… manage your time well. Don’t go stay out until 3 every school night. It’s OKAY to tell your friends that you can’t make it to one hang-out. It’s not the end of the world.

Snort adderall.

Definitely utilize your weekends. I barely did any homework on weekends my Junior year and it screwed me over :p

^^ And drink Redbull.

prozac anyone? :)

Uppers and Taco Bell.

Junior year was my hardest year. It depends on how your school sets up class structure. My only advice is just get it done, because it feels good afterward.

haha I’m glad junior year is OVER.
IT was most definitely hard. I took the hardest schedule I’d had in high school, it was the most stressful year, but I also did somewhat better in my classes than before- although this must’ve been a miracle from heaven because I was riding borderline in a couple classes, but somehow improved at the end.

First semester is not much worse, maybe even easier, than sophomore year. I suggest you use this time to bring your grades up HIGH so you have a buffer zone second semester. I also was on a sports team, which sucked up ALOT of time, causing some grades to drop.

ALSO, I recommend coffee
never started drinking it until junior year.

Don’t discover this website until you’re through with Junior year.

the key is organization and time management. if you know you have a million papers due monday, tell your friends you can only go out for an hour or 2 sat or friday night. keep a planner so you keep track of assignments. idk if you have an after school job, but i did/do, and whenever i knew i had a huge paper or test on my radar, i requested the night before the due date off to study or write. my boss was understanding and i didnt end up staying up til 4am working. of course, you’ll have a few late nights, but keep things in perspective. work hard for one year, and see the results the rest of your life!

Junior year at my school is where the work isn’t that hard, it’s just a lot of busywork which NEEDS to be done to get the grades. Of course, the juniors complain a lot more than the seniors. In senior year, there’s less busywork, but it is genuinely harder and by then the seniors know how to handle it so they’re on top of their stuff.

I haven’t started junior year, but the plan is to not procrastinate. I hope it works.

ohhh god… junior year sucked. I’m glad I’m done. But I think the only reason it sucked was because of SATs/ACTs/APs etc. If you manage your time well you’ll be fine.

I played a lot of Guitar Hero. I also remember a lot of homework. Insane amounts. Mostly because I had never been exposed to that kind of workload before. That’s probably what gets you - being confronted with all this work and not knowing how to deal with it efficiently.

Other than that, it was like any other year. Except for senior year, which was awesome.

It’s hard, but it goes by fast and is not that bad. Try your hardest, but just go with the flow and don’t worry. Try to get A’s, but realize an A- or B+ is not a big deal.

I survived my Junior year by eating food and drinking water daily. Additionally, air intake was critical in my surviving of Junior year. Shelter also was extremely vital to survive.

My classes last year as a junior were definitely harder than ever before however I made the best grades of my life by far. It will most likely be your hardest year though that is not always the case. It is not “unbearable” or anything, you have to remember this is only high school and not college and because of that you can get away with procrastinating/cheating etc and still make high grades.

lol @manisfesto.

It depends. For me first semester was a breeze. Then came the second semester. I had to study for my SAT, study for other classes, do massive amount of essays, projects, and other work. While trying to maintain a social life. You have to find a way to stay up, I used to hate myself in the mornings for falling asleep in the middle of my homework. When Its over you will hardly remember it.
