I'm applying to UC schools this November, and I would like to TAG with San Diego, Davis, and Irvine. My counselors were no help, and I'm confused with the information provided online.

Is the deadline to TAG with schools on November 30th? Is there some box I check on my UC application that says I want to TAG?

Do I need to complete major prereqs on assist.com to TAG?

Please, please, PLEASE I need information. I'm so lost.

Is there a separate deadline for all UC schools, or is it Oct. 30th for all? Is my math course “completed” if it is in progress this Fall semester?

Also, if I’ll only have completed 1/2 of my assist.org major classes for biology by this Spring, for example, could I still apply to that major? I’ve only completed general bio though, but I’m taking Chem, calc, and physics this winter, spring, and summer.

ecullen - deadline for ALL UC’s is NOV 30th. the Oct.15th date is the deadline to submit your UCI tag checklist. sorry if that confused you. Anyway, your math course will be considered “in progress” until you update your app with your grade.

you can still apply for bio w/o completing all of the prereq’s, but you will be at a disadvantage. but as long as you indicate on the app that you will be taking those courses in the following semesters, you should be ok.

SeeHerFly, is there a different TAG checklist deadline for every school? Also, how could I be at a disadvantage applying as a Bio major, when admissions is supposed to be guaranteed? Is it only guaranteed if you’ve completed the assist.org classes? So I could be rejected from a TAG school?

ecullen - some UC’s do not require a TAG checklist so you have to look at each UC individually. I know UCSD does not require one…they only want you to check the TAG box on your app. I’m not sure about Davis, sorry.

You will not be at a disadvantage with TAG schools for incomplete prereq’s, however, some majors have more stringent requirements in order for you to sign TAG. Again, you have to look at each school individually. Some majors only require let’s say a 2.7 GPA to be eligible for TAG while others might require 3.0-3.3. So essentially, you can sign a TAG and be guaranteed admission to any of the participating UC’s, but you may have to select a different major if you do not meet the requirements specific to another major. Does that make sense? I hope I’m not confusing you more.

Finally, your last question…you cannot be rejected from a TAG school (given you have met the requirements) unless you do something astonishingly stupid like flunk all of your classes spring semester or plagiarize your personal statement.
