If your professor posts lectures (recorded) or full powerpoints online, it might not be necessary to take notes at all. My Environmental science lecture was like that - attendance was mandatory (40% of grade, I think) but it was not required to actually understand the material since everything was online. So I’d just show up every class, sit up front, and listen to the professor for maybe 20 minutes, then zone out, then maybe do homework from another class. Pretty chill for the most part. I only had like three pages worth of note by the end of the semester but I finished the class with an A.
On the other hand, my Religious Studies class required detailed note taking (no powerpoint online, recording lectures wasn’t allowed) so I had maybe 100+ pages of notes from that class in order to get the same grade.
