I would like to learn Russian, but I don't know where to start from...
I heard many people study a new language by themselves.
can anyone leave some tips here please?

impossible.

Unless the language is in the same family (i.e. teaching yourself Spanish when you already speak French, a similar Romance language), I think it would be pretty hard to teach yourself a second language without instruction and some sort of structured conversational class.

yeah it would be pretty hard. if you got a cd or computer game or something where you could listen then maybe?

Many people do so, but there are drawbacks and require lots of effort and enthusiasm.

I'd suggest buying some books- there are many out there, and try http://www.wikibooks.org

However, the best results are probably achieved at an academy or somewhere where they teach languages.

Tapes, CD-Roms, Books, Time, and a lot of effort. You can do it. Personally I want to take up an asian language, eventually.

You could get yourself a foreign-exchange student who speaks Russian, and have he/she teach you that while you help them out with their English?

Just an idea.
