I’m used to typing all my notes but want to start typing my math notes. I’ve looked at LaTeX but it seems too hard rn to learn.
What do you use? Microsoft Word? I recently found this thing called Paperspade but dont know if anyone uses it. I’ve considered copying and pasting the math symbols but that gets slow.
LaTex is not too hard to learn and is in fact the best way to go hands down.
LaTeX is pretty easy to learn if you have programmed in any language before - I use it to type all my math/CS assignments and papers.
For taking quick notes in lecture, I usually just hand-write them. Certain things are also much faster to write than to figure out how to typeset (for me, complicated graphs/trees and geometric figures).
LaTeX is definitely the best method. It’s also very useful to know how to use if you plan on going to grad school and will need to prepare a thesis.
LaTeX really isn’t that hard to learn and is a useful skill to have. You can create a template and then use that for future notes, so you don’t need to remember all the setup and formatting commands. I also do all my math and CS assignments in it. I take notes by hand in my classes, however.
Hey everyone - thanks for the notes. I tried Paperspade and am pretty happy with it. If I get trouble later, I may try LaTeX
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Closing thread, since the OP has already made a decision. Additionally, I’m not convinced that the OP with 2 posts is not merely hawking his product.
The conversation as to whether or not one should take notes on a computer in a STEM class (FYI, I’m against it) or any other class as opposed to hand writing notes is a good one. However, it’s one that, besides having been covered before on this site, is better suited for a new thread.
