How do you wear your hair?

Since we've already got the thread about clothing, and I've all but resigned myself to failing my AP Stat test tomorrow, let's talk about the second primary way we express ourselves through our appearances: our hair.

For years and years I kept mine in a sort of huge blonde mane (I'm talking below my shoulders and wide), which I would periodically cut for whatever show I was in and then regrow. I suppose I fancied myself a rockstar or something. Looking back at old photos of me it looks alternately goofy and cool, so I assume it was pretty hit-or-miss at the time.

Nowadays I'm opting for a cleaner-cut look, partly because I've had important interviews and auditions this year and partly because it's a hell of a lot less trouble to maintain. It's still long enough to curl, though, and coupled with the goatee I grew for a Beckett play we did it's a very Nordic look. The downside is I look the spitting image of my father, but I suppose we take the bad with the good.

Y'all?

Sometimes I brush it when I get out of bed in the morning.

Hair isn't something I do, it's something I have. I've always kept it down except when my parents used to make me wear a ponytail. It's just easier that way.

(But I've been more conscious about my appearance these days, so I'm actually trying to take care of it a bit. You know, brush it every day or so, instead of when I feel like it. And sometimes wear it up, because people say that makes me look better. I don't know any other way to style it.)

I have crazy hair, but you can tell I hate it. I want crazy color, but can't because of school.

I'm getting it chopped off though for prom.

I have medium-long brown hair. I straighten it most mornings and wear it down or in a ponytail.

I want to dye it or get highlights, but I'm sort of a wimp.

I wear my hair as if it's attached to my head.

I have thick, curly hair that goes past my shoulders, and most of the time I just brush it and go. It looks pretty untamed, but straightening it is more trouble than it's worth, and I don't like having my hair up.

I really annoying black-people hair which is so curly, it sticks up like an afro unless I feel like relaxing it and putting gunk in it/straightening it every day and putting gunk in it. Which I don't. So I get braided extensions. Nice yet EXTREMELY easy to manage. The only problem is that doing it takes 7+ hours =/
Guess you can't have everything...

I wear it really long and most times dyed in a redish brown. I'm thinking of getting blond highlights and a darker shade of brown...although I don't think it'd be a bad idea to see what my natural hair color is, since I haven't seen it in a long time.

My hair is P-E-R-F-E-C-T.

Now before you think I am conceited, let me say this: I wasn't born with perfect hair. I was born with farrrrrrr from perfect hair. When I was little, all the kids in school would make fun of me for my hair (it's sort of the triangular hair seen in Princess Diaries)

A few years ago I decided to change it up. It's now long, perfectly straight, brown and super silky and shiny. I wear it down, combed to the side (as in sexy 90s model).

It's hilarious, I remember going to this trip to D.C. with all the students from all over the country. I got sooo many: "Your hair is SO perfect" from so many girls, I just went like: "Thanks (smile)" and in my head: "You have no idea how much work it took to get it like this".

i had a rihanna-ish bob for a little while but i'm growing it out. it's almost at my shoulders now but not quite.

I wear mine in a ponytail most of the time. I can't STAND having my hair in my face.

If I do wear it down, I'll wear sunglasses or a headband or something to keep it pushed back and away from my face. :)

If I may ask, why do a lot of girls straighten their hair if it's naturally wavy or curly? I can only speak for myself, but I think wavy hair on girls is really beautiful, provided it's not a frizzy mess. I can't count the number of times I've complimented a friend just to hear "Really? I didn't have time to straighten it this morning. I look terrible."

Just my two cents.

i have two huge humps on the side of my head, making my hair kinda wierd. i like my hair a bit longer, but my mom always makes me get a haircut. arg

i have wavy hair naturally, but i just feel more polished when my hair is straightened. it is not only straighter, but smoother. i just like it that way.

I prefer to wear my hair down and I usually straighten it. However, there are a couple of times where I wear mine in a ponytail.

I wear my hair like a guy.

MelancholyDane-It's just a nice change. :)

I personally have really wavy/curly hair, and I really prefer it straight. I just think it looks better on me.

However, since I have such thick hair, it takes me WAY too long to do it (I have to wash it, then blow dry it, THEN straighten it), so most of the time I'll get it professionaly straightened or just leave it alone. It's not worth the trouble, IMHO.

ditto

Medium-short, straight and droopy, stays firmly attached to head.

I wish I had a Jew-fro :)

i have really curly blonde hair.. i get alot of compliments when i keep it normal.. but its alot of work keeping the frizz down and good looking curls.. so most days i straighten it. my hair feels so soft when i straighten it and i just love running my fingers through it, which i cant do when it's curly.. therefore i straighten my hair almost every morning.
