I know there are some crazy people who can like freakishly manage to do like each class's homework in like 20 mins. How do you do it, and get an A?

adderall =] .. Justtt kidding. but idk id imagine those kids who do their hw in 20 minutes dont have a's...

psh. i study 9 hours a night and have 2 B's. 1 in an AP and one in a class that I should have an A in.

I'm not quite sure, all I know is that as soon as I start working I get totally absorbed in the work and I become obsessed with it. I get high from the progress and speed of working, if you know what I mean. It's addicting.

adderall is a good answer. the study drug haha.

Try turning off the TV, it does wonders.

why not pick a good studying environment and take it from there and see what happens.

Work under pressure.

Srsly. I've honed the skill of doing the homework for the next class in the class I'm sitting.
IE: 1st period=music, I do my writing sem homework, 2nd period=writing sem, I do my math homework there, 3rd period=math, I do my bio homework there.

Working under pressure is wonderful. I always produce the best results then.

i suck at working under pressure.

i'm pretty efficient wrt getting homework done. it just takes focus and efficient thinking.

let's face it: 75% of the work in high school is just mindless grunt work (the other 25% is math and science, which is actually intellectually stimulating). learning what teachers are looking for and doing it efficiently is the key to getting homework done (and giving yourself time to do more interesting things!).

but, don't misconstrue my point to be that the humanities aren't intellectually valuable. as a huge philosophy and sociology nerd, i know exactly how cool those areas of study can be. i'm just saying that high school english and history curricula aren't particularly rich in that regard.

Avoid all distractions possible. A lot of people listen to music while they study and claim that they "can't" study if they're not, but most of them only say that because they refuse to believe otherwise. I used to listen to music and even at the lowest volume it was somewhat of a distraction. Also, I try to get the easier homework out of the way. I am an A student with a rigorous schedule, and although I don't have any after school activities, I can usually finish my homework in 3 hours tops..unless I have an essay/test the next day.

I would say find a quiet time to study. I am an A student as well with a rigorous course load plus a lot of extra circular activities so. I just find a quiet time to study and make sure I get all my homework and studying done. I usually study for 2 hours even if I don’t have homework in a certain class, its always good to get ahead and be prepared!!

Contrast (really contrast) shower+coffee rocks :)

When I'm in school I always listen to music while I'm working during a free period, mostly though because music, to me, is much less distracting than hearing people chat in the library. Usually, though, I listen at home too...nice, quite music that I know verrrry well to the point where I'm not paying attention to the words anymore. It's almost like it's become so etched in my brain and I'm so used to working with it that I really don't think it distracts me anymore...just relaxes me. To each his own, though.

its all about focusing on the main point/ big idea. I never did any homework for either AP euro or AP Calc AB, and I got all As and 5s.

Absorb everything in class, or learn everything over the previous summer. The latter makes the school year a load easier.
