I'm applying EA to the LSA (for economics) and the Ross school of business. I'm writing the essay right now however, and I don't know how to describe my interest in both majors. I'd rather be in Ross than in LSA, but I don't want to make the entire essay about Ross because you have to get into another college at UMichigan to be considered for it. Can any previous students who applied for Ross pre-admission PLEASE help me out here? What approach did you take in your essay to write about Ross and the college you were actually applying to? How much did your essay emphasize Ross and how much did it emphasize your other major?

If you feel your stats/extracurriculars alone are enough to get you into Michigan, don’t write about LSA. I was confident I would get into Michigan, made my essay solely on Ross, and was accepted to both.

My stats are decent, but I’d still rather write about LSA and Ross to be safe.

If your stats are just “decent” by a normal person’s sense of the word then don’t bother with Ross pre-admission which is for basically 2250+ or 33+ SAT/ACT. If you don’t have either of those or aren’t even close just write for LSA because you won’t have a chance for Ross pre-admit status.

I was wondering the same thing- I’m at a 33 ACT and 4.05 weighted right now, and being female might help, but… would focusing my essay entirely on Ross decrease my chance for admission to the university as a whole? I don’t want to risk my admission to Michigan itself for the sake of Ross Pre-Admit.

By “decent” I mean 2320 SAT, ~3.8 unweighted GPA, 14 AP exams total (none of which were self-studied), National Merit Semifinalist, US Physics Olympiad Semifinalist, numerous awards in finance and econ, and three internships in computer science and finance.

I was only being modest by saying “decent,” lol.
