How does a CC to UC route work?

hi, i'm an out of state, but i'd like to know how to transfer from the community college to an UC, such as berkeley or LA
it's 2 years, and is it guaranteed? what gpa, or credits are needed,
and is it hard to transfer or easy
and generally just how it works..
right now i have no idea.. thanks

First of all, the guaranteed transfers only are for California community college students. In general, transferring is more difficult from out of state, because they get last priority after California community college students and then 4 year California students.

All schools require that you have a minimum of 60 units. The two upper UCs don't have guaranteed transfer programs, though UCLA has a program called TAP, which gives you priority if you take 5 honors classes. Both schools are somewhat difficult to get into, but definitely not impossible.

San Diego has a guaranteed program, although it has a lot of requirements. UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara have guaranteed transfer programs that are very generous (SB requires a 2.8 and a certain amount of general ed classes completed, same with Davis, although some majors require higher GPAs). I think Irvine has a priority program, while Riverside and Santa Cruz also both have guaranteed programs.

Also, I noticed in another post you said you were an international student, and I know that the guarantee transfer for UC Davis is not valid if you're an international student. I don't think Santa Barbara has such a restriction, and I'm not sure about the others.

out ot state community college transfer is very hard. almost never happens. in state is easy because public schools i.e. the UCs must take a quota of students from ccs each year - but that's CA ccs.

no i mean i am an out of state/international right now,
but i am willing to go study in a community college IN california..
does that change anything?
i dont mean that i will transfer in from a CC outside CA..

I have seen internationals do guaranteed transfers. The only thing is that it's very expensive. You will pay out of state fees for both the cc and UC. That means you'll be paying multiples of what in state students pay t the cc and double, almost $40Kyr at the UC.

"I have seen internationals do guaranteed transfers."

Which UC campus and from which CC? The TAA/TAG's I've seen so far specify "US citizens and residences only"...
