If I'm expected to take 18 credits for the minor, are these 18 additional credits OR do they count toward the major too?

All minors or concentrations generally fit into your general elective or ILR elective coursework. Consult the breakdown here:

ILR Student Services: Summary of Curriculum Requirements

Depending on the minor, there's a fair amount of overlap that can exist across these categories. For instance, some of the gender studies or inequality studies courses required for a minor can be satisfied through the use of an ILR elective course. I was an ILR student who double concentrated in economics and inequality studies, and there was a fair amount of overlap in the coursework. Of the 11 or so courses I had to take to satisfy both minors, I think five also counted as ILR elective credit.

Here are the minors for inequality and gender studies. For some reason the econ concentration isn't working.

As a guaranteed transfer, you may be able to apply the coursework at your first college for the Cornell minor. You will need to save all of your written work and readings lists, and type up a brief description of the course. Then a faculty committee will review the work to see if it warrants approval.

So you're saying the 18 credits can count for the General Electives AND Minor?

So I'd still have a total of 120 credits.

Correct?

Yes. "All minors or concentrations generally fit into your general elective or ILR elective coursework."
