does it work for me or against me in college admissions?

All High Schools, competitive or not will have people that are top of the class with good GPA’s. It just shows that you’re trying harder than everyone else. I don’t see it being good or bad to be honest.

If you have a good GPA in a noncompetitive school than more power to you… it shows you’re willing to work hard despite the possible detriments of going to such a school. (Not trying to generalize, but I mean stuff like students who don’t care about where they end up, teachers who don’t try, etc).

I don’t know; some college admissions officers may look favorably upon that. Like, if your school only offers 5 AP classes and you take all of them, so you decide to take classes at a community college. When they see you’ve attempted to broaden your academic credentials outside of your limited high school, it could possibly end up in your favor.

It won’t help but it won’t hurt.
