How does a parent file FAFSA for Unsub Loan without student info?

Got my inspiration from another thread!

So D and I are trying to do her FASFA with 3000 miles between us. Son will complete one this year too. Is there a way to do the parent part that they can both access? "Live help" on Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid said I had to give them both My D's SS#, and mine, along with address, DOB, etc.

I thought I'd check with the REAL experts first!

I believe that once one FAFSA is complete it gives you the option of “populating” a FAFSA for a second child with the parent data. I know I have read that here on CC, but I have never done it so can’t give you specifics. I am sure someone here will though.

You would still need student info though.

I have info like DOB, SS#, but not her password. I could get it, but is that what’s supposed to happen, or is it expected that I will giver HER the parent and family financial info?

Hare’s what the second guy on fasfa on line said.

Welcome to FAFSA on the Web Customer Service Live Help!
me: How can I complete the parents information of my daughters FASFA online? She is in another state. I have her data release number. My son will be filling out one this year too. How will he be able to use the same parent information?

Thank you for contacting the Federal Student Aid Information Center. I’m J S, your online Customer Service Representative. Give me a minute to review your question, and I’ll do my best to assist you.

J S: Has she submitted the application already?

me: Yes. For 10-11. Not yet for 11-12, but she started it,

J S: From our homepage, [Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.gov), click “Start Here.” On the next page follow the directions for “Student Log In,” then choose “Continue.”

me: but it asks me for her password. Is that right?

J S: Yes, you need to ask her what the password she created is

me: OK. And then, what about for my son?

J S: After you finish submitting the first student’s FAFSA, you will be provided an option to transfer parental data from one student to another. There will be an Optional Feature that says “Transfer your parents’ information into another FAFSA.” Choose the “Click Here” link to transfer the parental information into a new FAFSA for a sibling. You can continue doing this until you have submitted a FAFSA for each student.

J S: Is there anything else I can help you with?

me: Ok, thanks. Since my son is home with me, could is start with HIM and transfer to her? Would I still need her password?

J S: Thank you, just a moment please.

J S: You can only transfer the information to a brand new FAFSA, not a saved FAFSA

The first guy also mentioned a “data release number.”

Wonder what a THIRD guy would say…
