Hi guys..Recently I was accepted to UVa with the Echols and College Science Scholarships. Now are the ivy league results (and MIT/duke) are close to coming out, I kind of wanted to gauge what I should be expecting for the other schools. Thanks!

oh and I was deferred from Harvard SCEA..if that helps.

Are you instate or out of state?

Getting into UVA out of state can be comparable of getting into a lower ivy imo

I don’t think it works that way. Given that all of the Ivies have acceptance rates in the single digits (perhaps with the exception of Cornell’s, which is still quite low), the Ivies have to turn away many qualified applicants. So you may be perfectly capable of earning admission to the Ivies and other top-tier schools you applied to - but you just happen to be one of the capable, qualified students they had to turn down because there are only so many slots.

I don’t think you can predict whether or not you are going to get into an Ivy based upon where else you got into school - you can’t even predict, say, getting into Brown because you got into Harvard. So just let it ride and try to be patient.

You will get into Duke. Maybe one Ivy. Lots of Ivy waitlists.

I got a full academic scholarship to UVA (out of state) and didn’t get into any of the ivies I applied to. Waitlisted at Cornell.

Hi, anonymous20

Like in your case, my S was accepted to UVA Ecole Program and he is waiting to hear from five Ivies, HYP, D and B RD In addition, he was deferred H SCEA. Fortunately for us, he got likely letters from D and B several weeks ago. According to various cc threads, the likely letters from D and B, though discouraging, do not appear to mean a better chance of acceptance to HYP.

A good luck to all of you!
