can anyone tell me how the ACT score? what are the catagory? how does it score? and how the score compare to SAT?

There is an english, math, reading, and science section (and you can take the writing section). Each of the four sections is given a score of 1-36 and your overall score is an average of your four sections. Your essay is graded from 2-12 and is converted to be combined in your english score to change or keep your english score.

The ACT-SAT comparison:

[ACT-SAT Concordance](The ACT Test for Students | ACT)

is the essay really important, cause i heard that people take ACT cause its easier and essay is not require. if i am a bad writter and not good on essay, shoud i still go for it cause on SAT i only get like 7 or sometimes 8

Most top colleges want the ACT w/ Writing. The Writing section is just the essay. Then there’s a separate score that combines your English score with your Writing score.

The essay is pretty important.

got it
one more question, people say that ACT is easier than SAT which i think so too. but is the timing of each question longer than SAT. cause in SAT the time for each question is short and my friend told me ACT is longer.

how does the writing count for ACT? if i get a 8 then how does it affect my overall score on the ACT?

Well, most people say that the timing in the ACT is a lot harsher.

English - 75 questions in 45 minutes.
SAT Grammar - 35 questions in 25 minutes and 14 questions in 10 minutes.

Math (ACT) - 60 questions in 60 minutes.
Math (SAT) - 20 questions in 25 minutes. 18 questions in 25 minutes. 16 questions in 20 minutes.

Reading - 40 questions in 35 minutes.
CR (SAT) - 24 questions in 25 minutes and 19 questions in 20 minutes.

Science - 40 questions in 35 minutes.

So, timing is worse in the ACT.

thx for all the info, one last question.
About score comparison, i am trying to get 1800 or 1900 on SAT, what will the score be for ACT for around 1800 or 1900?

^See post #3 in this thread.

27 on the ACT is an approximate 1820. 28 is 1880 and 29 is 1940.
