How does AU compare to neighboring schools?

I really want to go to college in the DC area, and I was just wondering how American compares to Georgetown, GWU, even Johns Hopkins in academics.

It differs depending on what you want to do. Confidently, I can say that Georgetown and JHU would beat out both GWU and American any day, but between American and GWU I would guess that some programs are better at American than at GWU and vice versa. GWU's national ranking is around 50th and American's is around 80th. That should speak for itself, but however i think GWU has a higher ranking because it turns away more people(this is a huge factor in the ranking paradigm)---american dosen't have as many applicant so therefore it must accept more (aka GWU has a bigger/ mroe well known name- aroudn the nation primarily because of its great grad programs, but american is very esteemed esp. within the beltway and to a lesser degree around the east coast. american doesn't seem well known at all in the south where i from. i once wore an AU eagles shirt to school and people thought it was an American Eagle product or something.) The fact that american has slightly higher ACT score averages than GWU should speak somewhat about the ranking disparity between the two. however, to contradict by pro-AU post, if i get into both schools and don't get any money I'm going to GWU, simply becuase its campus it is the most freakin awesome location--AU's campus is very suburban/ not very appealing

Thanks man.

GWU > AU

AU is a great school, but an eagle isn't any match for a colonial with a musket. ;-) haha, sorry for the crappy joke. and, in reality, both are superb colleges.

but, this raises an even greater question...*** is a hoya?
