How does Barnard notify applicants?

Does barnard put decisions online as well as send them out via snail mails? If so 4/1 will be the latest day that we will get the decisions?

I know that early applicants received an obvious acceptance envelop at home ... and I believe they did not get an email or have access to the results on-line before the snail mail arrived.

PS - good luck!

Unless things change this year from the past 4 (which is as long as I have been involved), admitted students in the US will get large Express Mail envelopes any where from two days to 3 or 4 days after they are sent out. Those not admitted will get the "small envelope" via regular post and possibly later. Those living farther away from Barnard can expect the decision to take a bit longer in reaching them. Sucks, I know, but there it is.

International applicants are the only ones notified by e-mail and they will probably be the first on these boards to know their admit status. There has been no other online access to the decisions, at least to date.
If I had to guess based on my experience, decisions could go out as soon as the end of next week....or possibly the middle of the next week. Don't hold me to it, though!!

Best to you all!!!

Thanks a lot churchmusicmom and 3togo!!! nervewrecking ><

Thanks! I'm excited now!

Yup, mail.

Also, you guys, waiting is definitely tough. And I have a way to deal with it: join Barnard's 2013 Anxiety Crew (<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/barnard-college/623981-rd-2013-anxiety-thread.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/barnard-college/623981-rd-2013-anxiety-thread.html</a>)! We have formed a really supportive group, and we always welcome new people to join in our wait. It'd be lovely if you'd post, so we could get to know you.

And...I'm starting to love my shameless plugs :p

What I'm starting to worry about is, shouldn't they have notified us by now if they're missing something? Because my B-nard check list is missing some items and I've heard zilch. :</p>

I'm getting nervous! I'll be heartbroken if I don't receive a big fat envelope from Barnard before April 1st.. T.T

Aha! I got an email.
But I'm international and ED.
I'm sure they'll post it electronically somehow....

letitbe18 you nearly game me a heart attack, LOL.
I'm internation but not ED so I haven't received anything yet.
Hopefully it doesn't mean I'm not in...

I do not think they have released decisions yet. When they do, the international applicants are the ONLY ones who will get any internet notification. Though I do think one year people started checking whether they could access an "accepted students" link on the website...not that I would recommend that.

:( I'm an international applicant, but I live in the U.S. I guess I don't have the "advantage" of being informed early.
Anyway, good luck girls!!! Hope we all get the big envelopes!

siyutsai- Hey! I hope we all do! :)

so has anyone received decisions yet? or does anyone know when they're likely to be mailed? (Barnard only does snail mail, right?)

I hate saying this, but I am FREAKING OUT. At least a few months ago, I could tell myself that April 1st was so far away that I could forget about it, but now it's so close.

I called the office and they said they're sending out the letters ON April 1. So I suppose the latest will be around April 5/6/7?

What?! That's crazy! I wonder what the hold up was. This is freaking me out!

Thanks, cranberrykiss!

Wow. Much later than I would have thought. Sorry, guys. But only one more week or so...

No problem summertown! Yeah, it does seem really late but I guess all the applications slowed them down. Emory also said they're sending them out April 1 so maybe a lot of schools are under pressure. OR they just said April 1 and are planning to send them earlier...sneaky sneaky!

Really? ON April 1? That poses a VERY large problem for me, as I was hoping I'd know about Barnard before flying up to the city on the third. Are you sure that they aren't just saying that to cover themselves so people don't freak out when they aren't recieved earlier?

...I guess starting Friday, we can do the online test thing...
