How does Berkeley's class schedule system work?

I’m starting in the summer, and im trying to take 61A:

i’ve added this class to my schedule two weeks ago, and i see it has open seats but im still in the waitlist? Tele-bears says my Position is 1.

what gives? also, i have a time conflict, but that shouldn’t stop the class from being added right?

What kind of conflict? Conflict with another class?

Also, make sure that the discussion/lab section has open seats. Otherwise I’m not really sure…

Just a time conflict, I’ve had time conflicts before and it let’s you still get in class.
If i cha ge secondary, will I lose my position.?
