<p>Is there a calculator or formula that Brown uses for determining EFC?</p>
<p>EFC is an official number produced by FAFSA. Brown than uses additional information from the CSS Profile and applies some of its own policies, particularly if your family is below $100k a year in salary, to calculate financial aid packages.</p>
<p>There is no way to to go to a webpage and precisely calculate your package from Brown, but unless you have some unusual assets (own a business, own multiple properties/high assets and low liquid savings, etc) following the EFC that FAFSA calculates is a pretty dang accurate guess.</p>
