How does BU calculate GPA

how does bu calculate gpa?

for example my grades r as so

frosh: c-, c-, c, c+. b-
soph:a- a- a- A b+
junior: a- a- a- A b+
senior 1st term a- a b+ C b-

English. Please.

From what I can gather, BU doesn't have a strict "calculate GPA" system. When I visited the campus they definitely seemed to be using more of a holistic approach to looking at grades, test scores, etc.

i called them up and actually how they calculate your grades is by unweighting everything. It sucks, it really does. But if you were in AP, honors, etc. and your school added a .05 to it then they just ignore that.

However, they do look to see what the actual courses were that you took.

Yeh, I believe most schools unweight your GPA so it's not really as bad as it seems since everybody does it.

Once again, the academic admissions process is leaning back towards Holistic grading. They don't award X points for a certain GPA, and then give Y points for extracurriculars. Instead, they look at everything as a whole, and decide from that. So don't be discouraged if you, like me, went through a crapload of AP classes only to have the unweighted GPA suffer. AP/Honors classes show that you challenged yourself. Also, AP Test grades seem to be another decisive factor, im hoping for my rather high AP scores to balance out my lower ACT average.

Same with me, except I'm hoping that my AP scores balance out with my SAT II score. I got a 5 in language composition but a 530 is my satII's. What the hell is that!! With me, I can write well for myself, but i am not all that strong with correcting other people's work.
