I got waitlisted at Caltech this year, and while I’m well aware that my chances of going are very low, I’d like to increase my chances as much as possible. Their decision letter says that their waitlist is unranked, so what factors would they use to admit people if they choose to do so at all? Should I submit additional references, another essay, call the admissions, anything like that? Or is it completely random chance?
