So at most US colleges, if you want to change your major you can pretty much easily do so (and it is very common for students to do so as well!)
But how does this work at McGill, since you don’t apply to the school itself but instead through the faculties? This is one major concern for me, because I got admitted to the Faculty of Arts—but what if, sometime in the next year, I decided I wanted to be a doctor (right now it’s not my plan, but I might gravitate towards this later, I’m still considering it)? How would I even fulfill premed requirements if the classes needed to do so weren’t available through the arts faculty?! Would I then not be able to switch my major or even take premed required classes? I don’t want to be trapped into a specific major by my faculty! Can anyone give insight as to how this works?
Thanks!
You can change facultyymajor by petitioning towards the end of first year. But transferring programs is competitive and not guaranteed and would be based on your McGill GPA. However, even if you remain in the Arts faculty you can take required premed courses in the Science faculty as electives.
