How does Chapman University Digital Arts compare to Drexel University Digital Arts

My son just got in to both. They are very different schools, (medium vs larger, suburb vs city, West vs East Coast, normal study format vs Co-op integrated). Drexel is nationally ranked, internationally ranked, Chapman is very nice school, but is not. Chapman is in the LA / industry center for film (but gaming?) while Drexel, in Philadelphia, has access more to gaming, but not so much film (but is still a selected partner school, along with Chapman, for Dreamworks college outreach program). My son wants option to go either way.

So how to choose? Appreciate any thoughts. We can't find any information comparing the 2 programs. Bill Kroyer, head of Chapman Digital Arts was nominated for an Oscar. Drexel student alumni was nominated for an animation Oscar (and won) last year.

As a DA Freshmen at Chapman, the location DEFINITELY matters. We’re in the thick of it and it’s great. We get amazing guest speakers (Glen Keane, Mark Andrews, Eric Goldberg, and soon the directors of Frozen) and awesome studio tours. I visited Disney in December, and many of my friends went up to Pixar/ILM last month.

Unfortunately, you’re not going to get that in Philadelphia.

Gaming isn’t my department, but we have studio tours and guest speakers for that all the time as well, so I don’t think that’d be a problem.

The professors all are wonderful, and you get to know them all on a first name basis. They’ve all worked in the industry and are extremely talented. Bill worked on Tron, Sheldon Borenstein is well known for his life drawing in the industry, and Sue Kroyer is a wonderful animator who has worked (and is good friends) with Brad Bird.

Thank you for your helpful reply. My son has decided to go to Chapman / Dodge College. He’s really looking forward to it.
