How does CMU CIT compare to other engineering programs?

I know its ranked lower than others, but I've specifically applying to ECE or computer engineering which is supposedly #2. Is their computer engineering around the same realm (but not equal to SCS) in terms of prestige? Or does it count against me that I went to a lower ranked school than say Gtech or UIUC when I apply for internships and what not.

Moreover do job offerers look at the school that you go to? (Like SCS) or do they more care about the courses and majors/minors you do (Like going to CIT and taking a minor in comp sci)

I guess this is a more life-ish question.

Someone’s been spending a little too much time basing their life decisions off of US News ;)

All these schools are great in engineering. A CS or ECE degree from Carnegie Mellon will get you a great job doubtless. A CS or ECE degree from any good school will get you a good job as well.

I figure if I minor in comp sci I can take the necessary courses anyways

But it seems like it should make a difference since the admission rate is like 3x higher for CIT.

I’ve partially decided though.
