how does co-op works? If I don't have EOPS, do I have a chance to live in apt in the Fall 2009 (if I apply now?) I have heard that new member cannot live in apt, is it true?

Don’t count on living in an apartment as a new member. Besides, why would you want to? They’re vastly more expensive and socially isolated.

If you apply now for Fall of 2009, you will most definitely get a spot. (Most people apply for Fall housing near the end of Spring semester.)

how about for spring 2009? will I get a spot if I apply now?

I’m less sure about Spring. The waitlist for Fall 2008 is uncommonly long this year, so it really depends on how many applications stay on file.

I applied for the co-ops for spring '09, but according to them, they won’t start publishing the Spring waiting list until the Fall semester. So…yea.

just exactly how gross are the co-ops and which ones are the better ones? Are the all-girl ones any better?

Well, first it depends on your definition of “gross.” Most co-ops compost their uneaten food and occasionally forget to wash dishes. Some smell like weed. But nobody pees on the wall.

The all-girl co-ops are probably cleaner than most. The smaller, co-ed houses are also relatively clean.
