how does course registration work?

Sorry, I'm not actually going to Duke (it came down to Duke or Michigan, had to go to Michigan for financial reasons), but I have some friends also going to Duke, and out of curiosity, how does it work? Did yall get an email saying you had to log into a site and pick your courses? @ Mich, we have to pick our classes at orientation, but all you Dukies are already choosing?

I'm just curious haha... just to see what all I have missed in the Duke way of life.

You go online and pick your classes and put them in a "bookbag". Then, on a certain day you are allowed to actually register for your classes online. Are you doing engineering at Michigan?

Yeah, I'm doing engineering at Michigan. I got into Pratt for BME at Duke.

Sorry about financial thing. Michigan engineering is a great place to go for undergrad and you won't regret it at all, and I'm not just saying that to make you feel better.

Registration at Duke is kind of hit or MISS REALLY BADLY. You put the courses you want in a "bookbag" and you get a window from first to third. Your registration dates are 3 sequential days at some point and they're all at like 7 AM. The point is to find the fastest connection possible in your city or state and to press the register button at exactly 7:00:00. If you don't, you'll be sent to queue hell and your connection might even break. I guess its a pretty fair system in the end tho with the rotating windows.
