<p>How does CSU Eligibility Index work? I know how to calculate it and my question is about admission outcome. If a certain major is non- impacted and the eligibility index is 3400, does it mean anyone who is in local area and whose score adds up to 3400 or above has guaranteed admission?

<p>There are a limited number of seats available in the freshmen classes of each CSU and it would not be possible to admit everyone who meets the required score on the eligibility index if the number eligible exceeds capacity. I believe what it means is that applicants who do not meet the standards of the eligibility index are automatically rejected. Applicants who meet the eligibility index standards are considered for admission in competition with other applicants who are also eligible and those with the highest GPAs and SAT scores will be offered admission until the class is filled.</p>
