How does FA work if you're staying for an extra semester?

I might need an extra semester to finish off both my double majors. How will FA work in that case? Will it be just the same or will they expect me to pay for the majority of the tuition? I currently have 0 EFC.

its should stay the same…my efc is zero and my aid is more or less the same as it was last year.

That sounds great then :)!!! I know I’ll have to do more research when the time is near, but did you have to fill FA paperwork for the extra semester?

Be careful here, if you have an EFC of 0 and you were in-state, a majority of your FA package was covered by CAL grants which are good for 4 years.

Not sure if there is a renewal process, but I know that CAL grants have a timer that starts after you first tap into it and are good for 4 years thereafter.

^You are right :(! That was one of my big worries since Cal Grant/Pell Grant is only there for 4 years…

I’m wondering this too :(. I decided to tack on a second major pretty late and am barely starting on the requirements now as a third year…While I can certainly finish everything within the four year limit, I would prefer to space out my classes as to not overwhelm myself. A lot of the classes are only offered during certain times of the year too, so if I don’t get in to a single one of them then I’ll most likely have to stay anyway…

I know that double majors are allowed to stay an extra semester, but I have no idea how that affects financial aid…My EFC is 0 as well.

It seems like we’re constantly dealing with a lot of the same problems Calicious (based off of your old posts).

^Ha :P! I tend to have a lot of concerns and questions! Most of the time, I usually like asking them here first! Hopefully someone will reply hehe!
