Can anyone tell me how competitive and how respected Florida State University’s MT program is compared to, say, super tough to get into programs like Carnigie Mellon or Tisch and relative to maybe Ithaca or Syracuse?

The FSU program is a very respected program! They only accept a small number of students hoping for a class of around 10, and most of their alums are doing very well as far as work is concerned after graduation. Several FSU alums are currently on Broadway and numerous students are getting work either in national tours or regional theatre. The thing that really seems to set the FSU students apart is their dance ability. Even if a student comes in as a freshman with very little dance training, by the time they leave, they can really hold their own. FSU kids are always in the final callback groups for dance and vocals and then many of them get the job.

FSU has a fabulous program! They are just not in the spotlight so much because they do not attend National Unifieds. Students have to audition at the school, and there is a cut off as to how many are auditioned.
