How does Georgia recalc HS GPAs?

What is the methodology?

based on the uga visit I just went to they told me it’s on core classes only so math, science, la, social studies, and foreign language. They also told me they take the weighted grade so if your school adds 10 points to your grade for example say you got 85 in AP US History your school gives you a 95 UGA takes the 95. If you don’t get a weight at your school UGA says they add a 0.5 weight to that class unless it’s already at a 4.0
They use a 4.0 grading scale nothing higher counts

Thank you for the insight.

The info below has been on a couple of other posts. I am not sure how I follow that the 50% GPA for incoming 2012 class was 3.74-4.04, if the methodology mentioned above is what is used. Seems like 4.0 would be the highest UG recalculated GPA possible. How can you get above a 4.0 if AP extra credit of .5 is only given if the course grade is below an A? I must be missing something obvious.

Mid-50% range for GPA: 3.74-4.04 (please remember that this is not the GPA you see on your transcript, but the GPA that UGA calculates based on the core courses taken in HS, and looking at the actual grades on the transcript)

hmm I’m not sure about that maybe that’s their high school gpa?
