I got accepted into a college as a freshman but did not go due to money issues. However, I want to spend one or two years at another college and go to the one I really want to.

How does the fact that I got in as a HS student effective my chances a transfer?

Being accepted as a freshman will AFFECT your transfer chances as such - if your high school academics were good enough to get you in as a freshman, it should work in your favor. Keep up your grades in college. What school is it, btw?

Well, i got into the GWU as a freshman, so my academics were good enough. Will such a thing give me an upper hand?

In terms of the academic achievements you already have, yes, but the acceptance itself, no.

What Rain202 and ChadVene said. It shows you that you’re capable of getting in, but the fact that you were accepted before will have very little to no bearing on your future acceptance, so keep your grades up!
