How does having no AP classes junior year affect my chances for NYU or Columbia?

I want to go to NYU Poly or Columbia and study computer science, however I'm worried having no AP classes junior year will hurt me. I tried to get into APUSH and AP Spanish but I was rejected so here is my plan for the next two years:

Junior:
College Spanish 103 through SUNY Albany
Honors English
Honors Pre-Calc BC

Senior:
AP Physics
AP Calc BC
AP Euro
Syracuse University Project Advance English
College Spanish 104 through SUNY Albany

In addition I plan to self study these APs over the next two years:
AP Macro (maybe Micro?)
APUSH
AP Chinese
AP Stats
AP Computer Science A

If you couldn’t get into AP classes junior year (I had a similar issue) have your counselor explain in his/her statement the scheduling issue, so colleges get it. Other than that, +1 on the initiative to AP self study, that’s exactly what I did when I got bored with regular USH (and somehow got a 4 on the AP test!). Makes a statement of initiative and self-challenge. Good luck with both!

No it shouldn’t have that huge of an impact. If your overall GPA, SATs and everything else are excellent it won’t matter. Plus you are taking college classes at SUNY.

You’ll be fine for NYU Poly if you have a good SAT and GPA and everything else. Just do the best
