How Does Hyps View West Coast Students ?

I was just wondering how harvard and the other ivies look at geography. i mean, the stats show that most students admitted to these prestigious schools already live on the east coast, so does being from the west coast, or the south, or any other "under-represented" geographical location help in the admissions process?

California residents are hardly "under-represented" at Harvard.

12.8% of domestic Harvard undergrads were California residents at last count, whereas California has about 11.5% of the national population.

i think if your stats are same with someone else's, an under-represented state would gain the advantage.

thanks for the stats byerly, didn't know CA admissions was that high. BingCold, you're prob. right.

How about Arizona?

advantageous (at least i hope so... i live in arizona myself =) )

What part!?

I go to school in New Hampshire though. Lolz

my cousin lives and utah and is applying this fall. does it help since she is from utah???

Not that I buy the argument that they directly compare people from different states that way, but even if they did, who's to say that if there were two such similar applicants, they would want either of you? Especially with barely enough room for 2,000 unique individuals.

it's disgusting how every possible admissions senario gets over analyzed in this forum.

would colorado help

i live in tucson

Hurrah for Arizona. We need more representation at Harvard! Good luck, guys.

Haha, it's all relative you guys.

Where you live is a factor that's pretty much not in your control, generally speaking. So spend more time thinking about the things are /are/ in your control.

Waht school in Tucson do you go to?

I used to go to UHS. whooodii whooo

It seems like University High sends a fair share of kids to Harvard every year. By Arizona standards, at least.

Yeah. It does. I don't go there anymore, I go to PHillips Exeter now. But yeah. Def sends tons.

Sunglasses, do you know Celeste Monk. She's my bff and my wife on facebook.

i go to catalina foothills
